The Young Ones.
in case some of you do not know, i'm involved in my church's sunday school. it's called TOUCHKidz. and well, it's not exactly "sunday" school coz i serve on saturdays. =) enjoy it a lot there hanging out with the little kids... and they're really little. 2-4 years old is the group i'm taking.

there's this little boy who's just so so adorable. he's 2 and is just learning how to speak. it's really cute coz he can't say 's'. so when he asks you to sit down, he'll go 'it down' and speakers become 'peaker'. half the time i'll be figuring out what he's trying to say... =) and you know how children like to play with what we call 'masak masak', ie, 'cooking' toys. some of the toys resemble cooking utensils and some resemble food. there's this piece that's a chicken drumstick. and this little boy, took this drumstick up and started to eat it... hahaha. you guys should see the expression on his face. in his mind he's probably wondering "i'm eating this chicken but how come i can't seem to actually eat it?" =) there're other children too and each of them have their special personailities. some are really naughty and most of them have a very very short attention span, like 2 secs.

well, that's some of the pleasures i get watching these little ones. and it makes you wonder what you were like when you're young. any embarrassing stories to share? hahaha. click on the comments link and write in your embarrassing moments. as for myself, i can't really remember any embarrassing moments. but my mum told me that i sure was persistent in finding out how things work. i'll ask 'why?' all the time and after my mum gave me answers, i'll use the answers and ask her why all over again. hehehe!

because i'm serving in TOUCHKidz, i get to attend training sessions that teach us about the characteristics of children of different age groups. it's kinda cool and we also learn the learning patterns of children. and these learning patterns actually follow us through to adulthood. interesting huh? =) been learning lots at TOUCHKidz. i wonder if the kids benefited as much. =) learnt how to be patient and most importantly, learning not to lie to them or scare them... coz that's usually the easier way out isn't it? and that's what most adults do i realised... and that's really bad coz the child picks up from them. *sigh* if only people know that children do not forget what they are told and they are great observers! it is a challenge, i guess, to instill all the right habits, which in turn become values, in them before they are exposed to other influences. as you know it, children are 'nian2 shao4 wu2 zhi1' but that doesn't mean they don't remember what they see and hear. it is precisely because they are that way that they look to people they know for guidance.

well, have been serving here for nearly half a year already. i pray that i will be a good example to these children even though i see them only once a week. =)

i remember a line which one of my friends put down as her signature in her emails. can't remember it word for word but it goes something like "to change the world, be the change in the world". =)
