I'm feeling patriotic.
i'm so tired out again... sigh... this is one of the worst states i can ever be. to read words on a screen or in the papers and start to feel giddy. to type my username and password, into blogger wrongly.

why am i so tired? that's a question i want an answer for myself too... late nights are the culprit i guess. preparing things and talking to hubby... you see, he's in for reservist today and will be away for 3 weeks.

well, it's better than the last time where he had to go to australia for training. at least this time i can still text him, call him and see him during the weekends. strange feelings i'm having... i feel proud that guys in this country serve in the army. call me brainwashed but i really feel that being able to serve is good and is a priviledge. yeah, you can call me a simple-minded girl who has not seen what it's like in there at all. sometimes i feel sad when people don't feel proud of singapore or serving singapore at all. yeah, you can call this national day patriotism.

in any case, though this country is not perfect and the government is not perfect either, things are going well for us. and it had been going well for us for the last 40yrs. whether this will continue is not material. what is is that if it doesn't would you stay or would you go? if you go or if your mindset is one set of leaving, then you won't really care whether we make it or not. it's like the temporal and permanence minset i wrote abt a few posts ago.

i feel proud to be a singaporean. a country so small but yet so well-known around the world. i recall a dinner with some friends and this friend shared that he was once stopped in russia while running for a train and the police demanded to see his passport. when the russian police saw that it was a singaporean passport, they immediately let them go catch their train. we wouldn't have gotten here today without our leaders.

yesterday, some of us went out to eastpoint to bless the people there, part of the 100k challenge. and this thing coincides so nicely with national day and us wanting to bless the nation. the beauty of this is that it's absolutely free. yes, free blessings. and what pains my heart is that most people thought we were out for money or out for their souls. since starting this campaign, my heart has been blessed. when i spoke with some old folks reading their papers and you could see their eyes light up when you tell them that you wanna bless them, and you wanna keep them in prayer. seeing hope glimmer in their eyes and their faces responding with thankfulness and letting them know that there're people out there who bothers really touches my heart.

i could feel myself partnering the church and partnering our nation, just like what my hubby is doing now, to bring blessing to Singapore. and through this i give thanks that God is truly using us to be His hands and His feet to the people here.

"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." Romans 13:1 (NIV)

since God has chosen our leaders and appointed them, God will also watch over those who obey them. because i believe God is good, i know that this country is also in good hands.

God bless Singapore. happy national day y'all.
